ABOUT ME

I grew up in Kent and Hampshire, and I am graduate of the Manchester Writing School’s Creative Writing MA programme. I have short stories published in Fictive Dream, Virtual Zine, Confingo Magazine, The Lonely Crowd, as well as a chapbook with Nightjar Press. My work was highly commended in the Bath Short Story Award 2020. My debut novel – In the Mirror, a Peacock Danced – was published with Agora Books in 2021. I live, write and teach in Rome, Italy. I am currently working on my next novel, a ghost story set in Tuscany, and my collection of short stories, Tenderness, is out on submission to publishers.

I have over twenty years experience in education, specialising in teaching English language and literature, as well as creative writing, in UK secondary schools, and International schools in Rome, as well as creative writing classes for adults. My classroom is dialogic and enquiry based, with learning as a diverse range of processes, and knowledge that is formed, not simply imparted. My students are flames to be lit, not containers to be filled! My professional experience as writer and editor also impacts my teaching on a practical level. I am passionate about literature and writing, and a life-long learner.
